| Natuey factory was set up in 1995 by Mr.soundara, owner of a plastic factory and Diamond brand drinking water. He won the tender in Savannakhet after that company developed the road to the pit about 3 km form the paved highway and 12 km form savannakhet city.
The salt is precipitated from saline well water by two methods for marketing, boiling or sun drying. In the hot season sun drying is used. In rainy season and cloudy days, boiling method is used. There are 31 furnaces for boiling. Each furnace can produce one ton of salt, for a total of 25 tons the boiled salt is exported to other provinces such as Salavan,Attapeu and champasak. They are export about 95 tons per week. Sun dried salt is produced in shallow ponds covering about 28 ha. This method is different from boiling, because it takes 2-3 days to yield 25 tons from the 28 Ha. |
